How I Refresh My Home for the Season

Gearing Up for Fall!

Hey friends! Can you believe fall is right around the corner? As much as I love the long days of summer, there’s something about that first crisp morning that makes me want to pull out cozy blankets, light a candle, and start nesting.

Here’s how I like to get my home (and mindset) ready for fall.

1. Switching Out Textiles

I swap out my light, airy summer fabrics for richer, cozier textures—think chunky knit throws, velvet pillow covers, and warm-toned rugs. Even just changing a few pieces makes a big difference.

2. Layering in Warm Colors

Rust, olive green, deep gold…these tones instantly give a space that “fall feeling.” I like to bring them in through accent pillows, table runners, or even a few ceramic vases.

3. Updating My Front Door & Entry

Your front entry sets the tone! I’ll add a seasonal wreath, a fresh doormat, and maybe some mums or pumpkins (yes, I start early!) so my home feels welcoming from the moment you walk up.

4. Adding Seasonal Scents

Candles, diffusers, or a stovetop simmer pot with cinnamon and orange slices—smell plays such a big role in creating a seasonal vibe.

5. Decluttering Before the Holidays

Fall is my pre-holiday reset. I clear out closets, organize the pantry, and tackle the “junk” areas so when the holiday rush comes, my home feels calm and ready.

As much as fall is about pumpkin everything, for me it’s really about making my home a warm, inviting place to land as the days get shorter.

If you want to see my favorite fall finds—blankets, candles, and entryway decor—head over to my LTK where I’ve rounded up all the cozy things.
